- Paint canvas bags for library books – inspired by this pin (blogged by Kari at Ucreate) I had the girls paint their own bags. I found the perfect bags at Walmart (3 per pack. Not too big, not too small), fabric markers, and a print out with the Dr. Seuss’ saying plus a couple of book character images for inspiration.
Together with one of Gaby’s best friend Isa, we had a lovely time and we even used the bags the very next day!
Decorate pillow slip for reading project – a couple of years ago a friend told me her daughter’s teacher gifted each student a white t-shirt and gave instructions to write the titles of the books they read over the summer. So, I interpreted (remembering a pillow slip my friends autographed at summer camp a trillion years ago, yet I still remember it fondly) and with fabric markers, cheap white (2 for $5.00) Walmart pillow slips, and some creativity, we are well on our way to making a great 2012 summer memento:
- Library - West Dade Regional - We finally got the girls’ cards replaced and they are thrilled! The original ones are currently lost in my house since last summer when I emptied my wallet out to travel abroad ( I promise to update when they reappear). I told them from the beginning that they could each get 4 books (they each ended up with 7… it’s so hard to resist!). I also chose 6 for me to read to them with this week’s theme of North, Central and South America.
Let’s see what we create and how we have fun next week. Did you work on any FUN activities with your kids this week?
