Our first month with MiamiFunFamily has been fun, exciting, very time consuming, and a great learning opportunity for all three of us. Throughout the process we have learned many, many things. Here a just a few:
SET-UP A GENERAL CALENDAR
After much reading, thinking, participating in an online blogging “class”, writing, and trying to write, we came to the conclusion that creating a yearly calendar was of much importance. We created a calendar and input important yearly events (i.e. back to school), major holidays, not so major holidays, and activities that we have done or would like to plan for a certain time of year (i.e. medical checkups). This, we hope, will help us streamline the topics for each month so that our posts are somewhat cohesive.
SCHEDULE BLOG TIME
We also decided (as of this week) to schedule blog time into our weekly routine. We will be meeting once a week to plan our posts. Again, we hope that, together with our calendar, we will all be blogging on complementary topics. We were spending too much time reading other blogs and then would get distracted into web surfing for hours at a time. We will now write posts first, play second. We’ll let you know if this works out for us!
SCHEDULE FACEBOOK UPDATES
- Remember to update our status on Facebook.
- Plan updates that are relevant.
- Post items that are different from what we blog.
Again, we are just beginning to implement this plan, so we’ll see how it goes!
NEED TO GET BETTER ACQUAINTED WITH TWITTER
Although between the three of us (maybe just two) we consider ourselves pretty technologically proficient and at least Tiza and I have had personal Twitter accounts for a very long time, we really don’t understand the benefit to the blog. So…..our fabulous friend Patty has promised to help us get up to speed on the subject. After we meet with her, we hope to add Twitter to our HootSuite account in order to help us manage our tweets!
We have an endless “to do” list in regards to the blog, but we hope that one month from now we will have been able to resolve many of our blogging issues, questions and hopes and dreams!
Do you blog? Let us know what you consider to be one the most important things you have learned about blogging. We will be sure to keep you updated on our progress!
