Celebrate ~ Housewarming Gift

A friend invited us to see her new home and although we see each other all the time (school, karate and around the neighborhood, etc.) I have never been to her house and therefore have no idea what her style is. So,  when I saw this idea on Mel’s Kitchen Cafe‘s site, I new this would be a great housewarming token. It’s easy, inexpensive and yummy. Plus, it will add a useful cookie sheet and dish towel to my friend’s new kitchen and some quick cookies for her entire family.

House Warming Gift - Frozen Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

I prepared the cookie dough per Mel’s Kitchen Cafe instructions and after freezing the dough balls for a few hours, I put them into a nice plastic container (that my friend can reuse at her new home), put it all on a cookie sheet and added a cute dish towel. I added a ribbon to tie it all together, an instruction card and a handwritten personal note.

Alex, my eldest, asked if we could bake some cookies about ten minutes after we arrived at our friend’s home, so, we baked about a dozen cookies, the kids enjoyed them thoroughly and she still has a bunch to bake another day!

Congratulations on your new home Lore!

Celebrating ~ National Sugar Cookie Day!

I have no idea how this day came to be, but according to the Holiday Insights website, July 9th is National Sugar Cookie Day! So, needless to say, we MUST celebrate! Here we are baking and decorating some very easy sugar cookies. We bought the Pillsbury pre-made, refrigerated dough and Betty Crocker cookie icing. Easy and fun.

Happy National Sugar Cookie Day!
